Karen Dales, a County Level Archery GB Coach

Hi, I’m Karen Dales, a County Level Archery GB Coach and the founder of Targeting Archery and Targeting Archery Club.

I discovered my love for archery back in 2010 with the Bowmen of Leeds Archery Club, and it didn’t take long for me to realise that coaching was my calling. I started by helping new and young archers, which led me to complete my Level 1 Coaching Course in 2012 and Level 2 in 2014. Since then, I’ve had the joy of coaching at local, county, and national levels, including with the Yorkshire Archery Squads and the Archery GB Coaching Development Initiative.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky to work with an amazing range of archers — from beginners taking their first shots to ex-military personnel and disabled athletes. Some have gone on to incredible achievements, including winning medals at the Invictus Games and the DoD Warrior Games.

At Targeting Archery Club, we’re all about inclusivity and making archery accessible for everyone. I truly believe that anyone can become an archer,  we welcome members of all abilities and ages — whether you use a wheelchair, are visually impaired, or able-bodied. My goal is to create a friendly, supportive space where everyone can enjoy the sport and feel proud of their progress.
